Cyprus Airways supports Geneva talks with Presidential flights

26th April, 2021

A delegation of 65 politicians and journalists joined President Anastasiades on board a Cyprus Airways plane this morning as he departed for Geneva, and the airline will return the group on Thursday following the conclusion of the talks.

A pioneer in the Cypriot travel industry, Cyprus Airways is the national carrier brand, and is delighted to be able to support the 5+1 conference on Cyprus which is set to take place in Geneva under UN aegis. Some of those joining the President for this historic trip include the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Attorney General, Chief Negotiator Andreas Mavroyiannis, leaders of all the main political parties in Cyprus, Kyriacos Koushos Government spokesman, and other senior figures.

Despite COVID-19 impacting almost every national airline, Cyprus Airways has continued to fly uninterrupted and continues to provide essential services such as this historic flight in addition to schedule and charter flights alongside repatriation flights for Cypriot citizens.

Last week the company announced its Summer schedule as part of the Cypriot tourism recovery effort and it is expected that the airline will expand its number of destinations in a highly anticipated upcoming announcement that will enhance Mediterranean interconnectivity.

COO of Cyprus Airways, George Mavrocostas, said: “As the national airline brand we are very proud to facilitate this delegation that is accompanying the President for these crucial negotiations that will impact on all our futures. While this is a historic flight, we hope that this will start an even more historic journey for Cyprus and its people.”
